This pub that has benefitted enormously from international travellers. Not only do the residents from the backpacker hostels nearby (there's even one above the Stork) fill the bar, they also comprise most of the staff. Thanks to this influx, the Stork has been transformed from an ugly duckling of an old pub into the stork of a casual, comfortable lounge.
The bar room is pretty typical of an inner city pub and thankfully hasn't fallen victim to the pokies scourge.
There's live music a few nights a week, when a band sets up in the corner of the room and there's a nice familiarity about the way the musicians play without stage or special lighting. The management also organises a weekly trivia night.
A second room is based around an open fire with tables and chairs as well as a few couches.
The kitchen does decent pub-type meals for lunch and dinner.

Another old genuine Aussie pub bites the dust 0/5 Just Cruisin - 18/04/08 Nice, down to earth, old fashioned pub, usually with plenty of room and a chance to get a reasonably cheap game of pool. Mostly filled with backpackers, or country Victorians paying Melbourne a visit.
Pubs like these are becoming scarce in town. 2/5 Daggers - 12/11/06 I got trolleyed in here a few times! 2/5
