Spleen makes superb use of its limited space. Its long narrow shape means that it never appears too full.
Throughout, the furniture is a mixture of retro couches and armchairs and functional, heavy wooden chairs and tables. A prized position is in one of two armchairs at the rear of the ground level which are slightly raised to enable complete reconnaissance.
The atmospheric lighting means it's great for a casual, intimate chat especially as the jazz and new skool tunes never dominate.
The opportunity to sit along the bar or at the window gives a relaxed, metropolitan feel. This unpretentious bar is a great place to vent your spleen, drown your sorrows or have a quiet drink.
Seckin - 14/07/09 Great place to be after work to enjoy the drink with randoms.. 5/5 Ed - 30/03/09 Great bar! This place has loads of charm and is a very cosy place to hang out and the best thing is there are no jocks or other wankers sullying the environment with their stupidity. Yay! 5/5 ajay - 21/01/09 i have my birthday here in '08 and it was wonderful. we easily had 50 guests moving around and there still seemed to be heaps of room. there are cocktails served (great ones!) and the beer on tap here is also good. this was a great, relaxing place and nothing beats there lovely couches! 4/5 Tom - 20/11/08 Small, but cosy. Just the place for a few drinks and a wind down before dinner. Been going here for years and it's still fun. 4/5 Justin - 23/10/07 Got about as much room inside as space in an elevator. Ridiculous!! From the moment you walk into the place, your stuggling to move 3 metres inwards past 3 people. Upstairs have about 2 couches & 99/100 (unless you get there before dinner chance) you are no chance of getting a seat. This is really just a basic average pub. Prices are normal. Try across the road at Ding Dong instead. 1/5 Chris - 27/07/07 I love this place. Great staff, great sofas! 4/5 Ange - 09/01/07 Staff were friendly. Great music. Went there at the end of our night and the girl at the bar was so friendly!! loved it! 4/5 Marcus - 16/04/05 This is a great bar for your first drink on a Friday night. I've been going there for years. I like it upstairs where there is an array of old tired couches.. you know the really comfy ones. The crowd reflects it's surroundings, cool yet unpretentious 4/5
