Punch Lane is a wine bar and restaurant offering professional service without the pretension.
The smallish area (it only seats around 45) is sparsely decorated with wrought iron fittings.
Its wine list is complemented by a great care for wine and while Punch Lane offers full restaurant service, the staff are more than happy for you to have a glass of wine and a nibble from their impressive range of cheeses.
One special feature of the bar is the inverted wine racks that cover the back wall for the reds, thus ensuring their quality.
Punch Lane is an excellent place for a business or intimate dinner and its staff are extremely professional without dampening their verve.
While midday sees mainly business lunches, there is no hint of snobbery if you don't know a shiraz from a sherry. After all, it would be a shame to have all that expertise there and not use it.
