Tucked away in the evolving suburb of West Melbourne, the Public Office is brilliantly remarkable. Situated in what was the canteen of an old car manufacturing plant, it now looks like a second hand office store from about 20 years ago, except for the kitchen in the middle of it.
The Public Office provides (for a fee) complete communication services (phone, fax and email) as well as computer facilities including a graphics computer with the Adobe package. For a service fee, The Public Office will also answer phone calls and collect your mail and can cater for meetings and conferences.
Owned by the Six Degrees architects, whose office is in the same building, The Public Office has made a name for itself as a venue for art and design exhibitions (the stairwell acts as a permanent exhibition space). There are events always occurring, including film nights, spoken word performances and dance parties - just ask the staff what's coming up.
