Prince of Wales
2 Acland St, St Kilda

Invite Friends to this bar:
A Melbourne institution, the Prince of Wales is as popular today as it has ever been.
Although it made its name as a live music venue, giving some of Melbourne's biggest acts their start, it has recently transformed itself.
A dingy, burrow-like maze of rooms has been replaced with large uncluttered spaces and black tiles cover the facade in place of peeling paint. Despite the regeneration of the decor, this has not alienated the locals: you are still likely to find a row of St Kilda's more unusual residents along the bar.
On summer nights, this is very much a young persons place as it turns into a heaving mass of partying young folk.
The band room upstairs has also been renovated and regained its place as one of Melbourne's premier music venues.
The gently sloping floor ensures a decent view from the back, although some poles are positioned remarkably poorly.

Raj - 10/01/09 The fact is that one love was good at a stage but is actually full of alot of rich kids who have nothing else better to do than get high and I actually know of more than one who are in rehab and hooked on ice and smack, as for the club and hardly any air con and its young crowd it needs work, it doesnt compare to freakazoid,Dome,Chevron,Dome back in the day. 1/5 georgia - 18/04/08 yes prince may be a good venue but it is full of underage young crowds...i saw a group of 15 yr old girls who i know, so clearly the bouncers need to be doing better work and what is with the $25 entry fee?? too many people stuck up, used to be better....only plus would be the music and even then that can be bad, wont be going back again as i dont enjoy fluro wife beater wearing pill popping wogs
2/5 j - 27/01/08 Each weekend the Prince hosts identical cologne drenched early 20's sporting fluro-singlets, skinnys and white windsors. These men are not only regulars to Prince but often attend the solarium and undoubtedly the gym. The girls wear caked up make up and higly revealing skirts. The Prince is highly over-rated and if you are even slightly alternatively inclined avoid Prince like the plague. With all its downfalls Prince occasionally attracts some of the top local and international Dj's and live acts and occasionally can produce mildly entertaining nights... 2/5 its mrjamal - 15/11/07 Awesome place, you hear music there that you wont hear anywhere else!
"Da Truth" who stated.. in reality they are Coles employees from St Albans.
Man.. you talk alot of crap, your probly some ugly arrogant homo who doesnt know how to enjoy themselves. If you dont like the place, why dont you go to a park and play with yourself haha. Stereotyping... the place with people from stalbans? seriously dude, if youve got balls come down to the area and talk.
:) we have a good reputation with how we greet shmucks like you. Take Care Fuk face, stay away from onelove!!!
5/5 Claire - 01/06/07 I'd just like to thank the princeband room for helping us out when they didn't need to. The staff were very friendly which makes it a pleasure to attend a gig at the bandroom.
Thanks 4/5 Rach - 14/05/07 Onelove is full of just turned 18 year old try hards. For such a young crowd it is suprisingly pretencious. The girls there all look like they stepped out of dolly or cosmo magazine and the guys are arrogant and cocky. Too young for my liking n geez im only 24. 1/5 Colleen - 12/04/07 I saw Ziggy Marley there at the bandroom.
It was AWESOME.
I thought it was a fantastic venue and provided a intimate show- which intensified the spiritual experience Ziggy provided us with.
I would reccomend it to anyone! 5/5 Maris - 02/03/07 Went for a weekend away with the girls ended up at Prince of Wales, definitely enjoyed ourselves to the max! and was chuffed that subway was open till early hours! 5/5 shane - 28/12/06 Good, lots of gays like this guy jimmy but still good. 5/5 Oskar - 23/11/06 Ouch DaTruth!if that is your real name......... Glad to see you didn't leave your pretentious hat at the door!
Who cares if the crowd is dropping pills or drinking beers, as long as everyone is in good spirits Its a good night!
Unlike most clubs in melbourne, I've never seen a fight or even a scuffle at onelove.
I've never had a bad night at prince and I'm there prolly 2-3 times a month.
My best nights in melb happen at this place! 5/5 DaTruth - 23/09/06 Amy, whoever told you "Onelove is a must" has no clue what a good house night in Melbourne is.
The place is full of biccy poppin wogs who think they are cashed up macs, when in reality they are Coles employees from St Albans.
The rest of the Prince complex is great, iconic even, but Onelove brings the suck in a big way 0/5 amy - 15/09/06 hi, i'm 19 & new to melbourne from the UK. I was told that 'onelove' @ Prince was a must.
I was really disapointed. It may have a nice layout and good location, but it was very hot and humid, dirty & full of overly pretentious people who were stuck up and smashed off their faces.
Yuuuck!! I won't go back. 1/5 Naomi - 25/08/06 By far the best young-persons nighclub around! Saturday nights "onelove" is known throughout Melbourne and around Australia. This place attracts the hottest djs playing the best electro-house music around creating an awesome party atmosphere. Some of the hottest kids you'll see hang out here, so dress up and if you are a male make sure you turn up with a bunch of girls. Oh, and be prepared to line up for while. I love this place! 5/5!!!!! 5/5 Rebecca - 22/08/06 A great pub, where everyone is themsleves, no drunken over bearing men trying to chat you up. A great place to hang out with you friends, and have a laugh! 0/5 Susan - 22/08/06 Too many guys in this testosterone filled pressure cooker. Not for me and my friends. We normally venture off to the Saint 2/5 Rebecca - 22/08/06 A great pub, where everyone is themsleves, no drunken over bearing men trying to chat you up. A great place to hang out with you friends, and have a laugh! 0/5 bushy - 22/08/06 I've done well here with the ladies and trust me, I'm no oil painting. This place kicks arse for atmosphere and the patrons are coolpretentious. Vodka Cruisers and Baccardi Breezers have no place in this real pub... 5/5 Dunk - 23/07/06 uncontended perfection. slghtly older crowd than most places & everyone just trying to get off on the tunes not themselves, hot ppl, top music, plenty of space for cooling down, no tools. even the security are reasonable. nothing comes close 5/5. 5/5 jochen millian - 10/05/06 the best club in the southern hemisphere. Best dj's and fantastic electro-house that makes u want to party all night long 5/5
