I have no idea why there's so many negative comments. I went on a Thursday for Shake Some Action, and had a really brilliant time! Everyone was lovely, the live band was great, the DJs played fantastic music and the drinks were cheap. I can't wait to go again!

Great place. I have never had any problems at the door, and the staff are really really friendly if you ask me will assist you with anything just about, great environment and friendly people always packed. LOVE IT!

Security are thugs, service inside is like everywhere else - excellent or scandalous. Onesixone has had its day. I love the place but still... the best years are behind it when you feel intimidated by creeps on the door.

wouldnt waste your time. workers there are real pricks. Seen the bouncers rough up a young kid real bad last thursday. i wont be returning.

Not too bad but I'm kinda over the tackiness. It's true that door people are generally rude and wanky (which is a big no no) but so fed up with going in only to find an empty place.
Much better venues around melb. 161 had its time but it's now a bad shadow of itself.

lol @ Jake... hahaha 'exclusive venue' hahaha, One Six One is full of bogans mate. don't be fooled into thinking there'll be 'celebrities' or the 'who's who' of Melbourne, they don't go there, simple.
Would u call Revolver 'exclusive'? the place is a hippish, filthy venue but because they're harsh at the door doesn't make them all that exclusive. You simply have to know a door person, bar staff, glassie, at any of these venues and YOU'RE IN!
The place is ok but nothing to write home about. I was there on Saturday and it just proved to me that 161 is getting worse and worse. bad music, unfriendly service and FULL of bogans and drunks

The dance floor rocks my socks, a 70's light up disco floor will always get your night going.
Always a top night out.
... when you can get in. Once i had to line up for 40mins!

I love these comments. All I see about venue are mostly negative comments from people who can't get into exclusive venues and want to whinge about it. Grow up and get a haircut and new clothes, pop you collars and maybe you'll get to see inside of a good club. Jenna, Tris, Dave, and Andrew, I'll catch you at Anglers where everyone gets in.

To answer a couple of the issues raised in posts;
-its a guest list/members only club, however, if you rock up and seem cool and dress street/stylish you'll get looked after.
-our wages have no correlation to venue income, so when you say you're paying our wages, you're wrong, completely seperate entity pays us.
-there has not been a saturday night that wasn't a full house in the last two years, and only a couple of fridays that haven't been full.
-the so called nasty bar tenders serve you from 9pm till 10am on a sunday getting 17 dollars an hour to walk your drink to you within moments of order, so maybe think about someone else before having a go.
-lastly, i love hearing wankers posting up thier hatred of bouncers, but in the end, the judgement calls that turned these guys away, as per usual, were spot on. as in the end it has been well and truly established they're a bunch of tools!

see im not really sure about this place, i have heard good things but when i went on friday night the boys that i was with were not allowed in because they were over dressed! i dont really get.

Its not the worse place in Prahran, but it sure does not live up to any hype it has created over the years. If you are expecting nothing more than a bar with small dance floor, band area, and some couches, then its cool

Only ever been to 16 for recovery but pumping tunes, funky dance floor and an awesome atmosphere has got me addicted. Wide range of people hang out there from seedy old men, to young hotties, to weirdos dosed up on every drug under the sun...It's a pick and mix of what kind of people you are going to get...but you can always be guaranteed a good night out!
Security can be very rude, but turn up in the right clothing with the right attitude and you should have no problems!

Dont bother if your looking for a good night out - go somewhere else! The door men are arrogant and treat everyone with disrespect. The club is never filled because they turn most people away, and thats not because of "dress code", last time I was here they turned away really nicely dressed girls and later in the night there were bogan guys in tee shirts that got in. This club boasts alot of things that it is not.

When approaching the door, don't be surprised if you are greeted with blank faces that groan at you about what you are doing there. Should they take a liking to your girlfriend you may get in, but are still made to feel guilty as to why you bothered the Ogres at the front door in the first place. I was still questioned if my name was on the "guest list", however upon closer inspection, there were no names on the guest list. Just a power trip that can bench press a couple of hundred kilos! Don't bother asking how you get on the guest list, apparently they don't know.... they also don't care if you are members of the place either..... because membership doesn't exist....... I suggest Ogre number 2 should look at the website more often.
If you are "lucky" enough to get inside, you will be greeted by possibly the most unfriendliest barman in the world and a half empty venue (apparently because its so exclusive). However, don't dare try and get a friend in because there is no way they will be on the "guest list", no matter how well you are dressed. Should you even consider going downstairs to ask one of the Ogres if its ok if they come in, you will be threatened with being kicked out. How sweet.
I am always polite, treat everyone with respect, opens doors, and all that, but these guys take the cake.
Alright place, but tries to be something its not. I won't be going back..... What the Ogres need to realise is that we pay their wages with entry fees and drink purchases.... so when the place is half empty, you ain't making money for the club!

LOts of fun. Been there a few times now. No problems getting in. Just dont look like a slob... guys c'mon :) Yes the guy at the door is a shit but dont give him attitude... dress right... you will have no problems! Have fun kiddies :)

this place is great, love it. get there before 3 or you wont get in no matter how hot you are. strict dress code but the bouncers r good guys and wont embarass u if u dont meet the code. hot ppl, excellent bar staff
