One of the more sedate bars in this precinct, Maurice's provides an oasis of calm comfort in the hectic bustle of Southbank.
As their license goes until 4am, the bar stays as late as the patrons, which is usually not much later than midnight on weeknights.
The restaurant section has fantastic views over the Yarra to Flinders Street Station. When the kitchen stops serving at 11pm, the space is turned over to bar patrons, making it a great vantage point for enjoying a late night cognac (the range of them is decent).
The area that is permanently dedicated to drinking has armchair seating and stools along the bar, all under a huge chandelier. The bar is decorated with oversized bottles, whether they be huge Grolsch containers or quality wine flagons.
Maurice's is particularly popular with office worker regulars on Thursday and Friday after work.
