The Lounge practically wrote the book on bar/restaurant/club crossover venues.
Since 1989, the Lounge has kept its popularity. From the office parties at lunch time through to the hard-core dance crowd in the wee hours, the Lounge is always on the move.
With a bit of something for everyone, from the uni students surviving on coffee to the young professionals having after work drinks, the Lounge doesn't quite fit in a niche. As once the clock hits 10pm Lounge changes over into a night club offering some of Melbourne's most diverse DJs from Wednesday – Saturday night.
Food is served until 10pm. With both lunch and dinner available upstairs and downstairs. Having said that, one of Melbourne's true pleasures is sitting on the Lounge's balcony in late summer as the sun saunters down the sky.
So if your looking for a place to groove the night away, have a quiet drink, or even dine out on Swanston st or the balcony with some delicious food then Lounge has everything you need!!

Luke - 20/07/09 Great place. I wouldn't stay there all night, but is definitely a great place to start with a bit of food before (the food is great and at a good price; the gourmet pizzas rock) and a great place to finish the night with a bit of dancing. 5/5 Captain Awesome - 02/05/09 This place is aaaawesome, the door guys have always been really nice (which is kinda suprising in melbourne), service at the bar is quite fast, there's a smoking area..drinks not that expensive...
Ontop of that on main nights it turns into a bar/club. Overall I love this place and go there every week, perhaps also cos i live down the road but hey, lol. One thing for people thinking of going though, at 10-1030 (can't remember what time) there's an enterance fee of $15, but not that bad. Safe place as well, just ignore the people who try to sell you drugs lol. 5/5 from me 5/5 Mark D - 30/08/07 Well said Karl and keep up the good work. I don't think most people understand the importance of keeping a crowd balanced and friendly. Something the Lounge has done impeccably and seemingly defying the odds. Being at the centre of town normally leads to the decline of venues simply by virtue of popularity. Not the Lounge! peace. MarkD 5/5 Karl - 29/05/07 Hi guys
I was just looking at your review on the Lounge. I just felt compelled to share with you, getting in to the Lounge has nothing to do with the 'bouncers' temperament, it has to do with the amount of people we can by law have on the premises. With this in mind we have to make sure our long term regulars and members can get in. We are also mindful we need to accommodate for those on guest list to gain entry. Other than that, its keeping a comfortable balanced crowd with out the packs of drunks or those who would interfere with others enjoyment. In the city there are lots of people parading past our door who you would not want see inside a tolerant venue. This is done so as those inside can enjoy the night in peace. Believe me, a lot of work goes on to make this happen for our patrons. Please say hi anytime your down there, I will be on the door.

Lounge Security 5/5 jack - 14/11/06 Lounge is an institution, one which has been going for 15 years or so.I enjoy sunday nights there, the service is great, admit it, not every one can be chipper 24/7, so dont be so judgemental.Sunday they play rock and for a club that plays techno/d'n'b and the likes every other day i think they do a fab job at creating an atmosphere where rock new and old can be exploited to the max.Go and try it, its bloody fun. 5/5 Allicat - 02/11/06 Hmmm... really don't know about the music! I think if they played some more house they get more people up dancing.
They do make a mean Jelly doughnut shot tho!!
2/5 Audunn - 26/08/06 Yeah its a pretty good place, but turns into a semi-club when crowded and the club music starts... 3/5 Naomi - 25/08/06 A bit scungy, all-sorts kind of crowd but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. More of a fan for after work drinks, not a big night out. 3/5 harmison - 27/06/06 underground sorta music on a friday nyt in the top room....wasnt a full house bar staff were good and women were not evident 2/5 Dave - 06/06/06 Quality. Where the staff leave you alone to enjoy yourself. 4/5 Steve - 31/05/06 The waitresses aren't very nice...stupid fobs. 2/5 Ele - 09/06/05 Love the vibe!! 4/5 20/05/05 Great for a casual game of pool or dancing into the wee hours. 3/5 Adam - 05/02/04 Comfortable with great meals. 4/5 Toni - 05/02/04 Service leaves a bit to be desired. 1/5 Frank - 05/02/04 Stingy sized meals, give the stir fry a miss. 2/5 jess - 05/02/04 venue is great but service isnt all it should be 5/5
