Honestly this place is the pits. I have been to it a few times with friends and have now decided that I will never go here again even if it means going home early to bed. The guy at the door was a tool and also made us wait (group of women celebrating a book launch for one of our friends)even though when we got in it was half empty. There was more security than patrons and the bar staff were completely full of themselves. A group of women dressed like hookers were pole dancing down the back to impress their men. If you like sour staff, sleazy crowds and being treated like trash (which is probably just because of the clientelle they are used to getting) then enjoy. Otherwise find one of many of Melbournes fine venues to visit instead of this woeful excuse for a bar.

Went for a hen's night and booked a little room. Only 3 of us could fit into it. lol. We spilled out onto the walkway and had fun anyway. The tapas were great and it was well catered. We were away from the 'market' so i cant comment. Security were great. No complaints from us except although free entry, you need a wad of cash to pay for the drinks... or get one of the sleazos to buy one for you :) Awesome atmosphere. Would definitely go again.

I went to the Long Room last Saturday and had a fantastic time. There was a group of 5 of us, we got in without a problem. The cocktails were fantastic, especitally the Mojito and we ordered some Tapas which was great. Overall we stayed for a couple of hours and really enjoed our time there.

I came here with a male who was neatly dressed, sober, and well behaved, and they refused him entry because he had runners on. When I pointed out that there were alreay several men inside with runners on, the "hostess" (dressed herself in tacky fake fur that was much more offensive than sneakers) told me that they "wouldn't be for long". When I asked her what she meant, and if she was actually planning to physically walk around the bar and ask them to leave, she said yes.
Somehow I doubt she did that.
Overpriced drinks, staff who are rude just for the sake of being rude, and a corner full of make up that makes you feel like you're at a teenage girl's sleepover.
Not to mention the disabled toilet that's only accessible via stairs.

Was there on a sat night, mixture of clientele, losers, drunks, sleazes, mutton done up as mutton, wannabe gangsters, babes and me!!!! Just a typical cross section of Melbourne society. Not a bad place non the less!

The women as my mum would describe them are mutton dressed as lamb, the the younger girls are gold diggers,aqnd the men are pretty full. The staff are half decent if you give them smile, and the manger is a bit of a looker.
In all a pretentious sleazy expensive pick up joint....what more could you want from a bar :)

well i had a good night there drinks are a bit expensive but it is everywere now music was good staff was slow but helpful & if u know the security u will get in no problemb & dont forget the free entry so it was a good night

One thing! For the guys- DO NOT wear anything with a surf brand name on it. My partner was wearing a rusty polo, nice jeans and nice shoes. And because it was a rusty top they were'nt going to let him in. The only reason they did was because it was a friends b'day and there were quite a few of us!

Great place for a quite drink with a group of friends. Great set out. Is a little pricy but the cocktails are amazing!! 'One night in paris' was my favourite, but you must get paul to make it!!!! Cheers...

Nice decor - pity about the crowd. Bartenders are slow and inept, but think they're great. Full to the brim of older, not so attractive sleazes, but for the free cloak room and delicious tapas its worth a visit anyway.

Friendly staff. great cocktails and awesome sushi!
beautifuly maintained and decorated with many memorable feature throughout the venues many different seating areas.
Melbournes coolest venue with something for all ages.
When you see the prices remember that you get what you pay for.
