One of the most active bars in Fitzroy, there's always something happening at Laundry.
On the street level is a lounge area stuffed with couches and lamps.
Upstairs is more like a club, with DJs most nights of the week.
On Tuesday, upstairs hosts one-off exhibitions by emerging artists while the lounge area has film nights featuring themes such as claymation and soft porn.
Wednesday sees Bert's Love Lounge downstairs with special musical guests.
Thursday's Eclectic night caters for the gay and lesbian market while big-beat and drum and bass dominate the dance floor on Friday and Saturday nights.
On Sunday a post-recovery recovery goes from 12pm and a cabaret goes from 8-10pm upstairs until the DJs take over. In the late afternoons, the turntables are open to whoever feels like a spin.
Happy hour goes from 5-7pm and comfort food is available at the bar. The dress code is non-existent and there's usually a cover charge.
Lei-Lani - 25/10/08 This is one of those venues where the music makes the vibe. It is a local (Fitzroy) place where you can encounter many of the same faces. The door staff seems intimidating but they are actually quite friendly. The atmosphere is dark and reminds me of university bars. But I think the main draw is the music. An interesting thing about this venue is it often takes risk and brings nights that may not be popular but are often fun and new. My main gripe with this venue is the bar staff, they often remove your drinks before you have had time to finish them. This has been my experience and that of many of my friends. So I suggest you go to the Laundry for the music and drink else where. 2/5 fase - 20/07/07 too small, gets too packed, mediocre live stuff...ok if u snag urself a couch early on. 1/5 Sophie] - 03/06/06 Great to relax and have fun with good friends and a few beers 3/5 -_- - 16/03/06 is thurs still fag night?
