Despite its name, chrome has little to do with Krome's interior. Instead, bare brick walls, plain pine and warm lighting help make the atmosphere what it is. And Krome's atmosphere is distinctly laid-back. Even on Friday nights, when other bars in the city go just a little bit crazy, Krome is an oasis of chilled grooves and relaxed service. Patronised by a devoted regular clientele, hushed conversations and lingering drinks are the order of the day.
A large couch looks out through f floor-to-ceiling windows to Swanston Street, providing one of the premier people-watching possies in Melbourne. Krome's design highlight is a roughly cutout brick column half way down the right hand wall from which a lamp throws unusual light patterns, giving the interior a unique ambience. The walls are decorated with modern art comprising glass and pop culture arrangements.
