Set in a village-like enclave of Rathdowne Street, the Kent gets plenty of regular custom from locals of all ages.
The front section, where the bar and its pristine Faema coffee machine sits, is a bright open area which has all the daily papers on offer.
The open space is much appreciated by the young families that come here on weekends, which is when the Kent really comes into its own.
The umbrella-shaded tables on the footpath, just across the road from the evergreen Rathdowne Gardens, regularly fill up.
In summer, the floor-to-ceiling windows open out to make this area all part of the bar. The back half is devoted to the kitchen which provides a restaurant-quality menu.
The wine list is good, with an impressive 35 drops available by the glass.
DaTruth - 30/10/06 With a killer location, this run of the mill wanna be gastro pub could be so much more.
