A sleek, minimalist bar on the ground floor of an innocuous-looking office building, Illia is pleasant surprise in rather bland William Street.
As you enter, on your left is a small section with stools and a good collection of complimentary magazines and newspapers.
A small bar and kitchen is just past this area. Luckily, Illia's designer didn't let the small space and low ceiling deter them from creating a intimate, stylish interior.
Black banquettes run around the walls and the pillars are covered in bottle-green tiles. At the rear, the daily specials are written on the red glass that covers the wall.
The other walls are dominated by large modern paintings and on the bar a large vase struggles to contain an explosion of flowers.
Wooden venetian blinds help maintain the intimate, peaceful feel though don't expect to work up much of a suntan here.
