As a couple of visitors to Melbourne we wanted a bar that's not full of 19 year olds trying to get drunk. This place is brilliant, sophisticated with fantastic table service. We will be back!

my fave bar in the city! the atmosphere is great, a nice eclectic crowd, music that you don't have to scream over, and the absolute best service i have ever had. tulips fix is one of the best cocktails i've ever had and the cheese plate is delicious

Great place, also one of the few places you can head after a gig and get a great comfy chair and a nice drink... A little pricey, but the toasted sandwiches are worth the dough for a late night snack.

I love the Gin Palace! It is by far my favourite bar in Melbourne and while it can be a little pricey, the service and selection is amazing. I have never been told that they can't make something, no matter how obscure. If you visit Melbourne and have not seen the Gin Palace, you have not really seen Melbourne.

What can I say when I think of this place. All that comes to mind is my sweet Woodley. I often dream of him, his strong hands massaging my shoulders as he whispers words of Gin in my ear. I dream of him teasingly kissing my neck, as his hands work their way down my qwivering body. I want him to stand up, and bend me over, and give it to me like a man. Oh...My.....God, do i love this place or what??!! I seriously had the best time on Saturday night there, and i got to see my dream man.....Woodles!! Talk about a perfect night! There is nothing more i love than seeing Woodley play with his cock...tail. If a man could be perfect, he would be it. I cannot wait to go back there this weekend and see him again and stare into his dreamy gin eyes.........ah perfection :)

Currently my favourite bar in Melbourne, great friendly staff, good service, beautiful furnishings, awesome atmosphere. Probably at it's best late on a quiet weeknight.

One of the original laneway bars, Dekorde, I have had the same problem as you, and once ended up in the fire hose reel cupboard instead of the exit. Great toilets in the guys too.

Another of the laneway bars that has stood the test of time.
Sure the crowd that made it cool dont come here anymore, and its mostly mainstream and suits, but with such plush surroundings, order a vodka and kick back, its hard not to relax.
The only real negative is the bar staff, its a fine line between being knowledgable and being a rude smart ass, and they often cross it.
