Down an alley off gritty Grey St in St Kilda, georgeLane is a drinker's oasis in unassuming surroundings.
The venue is steeped in Victoriana-meets-Chinoiserie fashion, with ornate wood and velvet chairs, low coffee tables, and Persian rugs, which combine for a warm and inviting elegance. Coupled with the warmly set murals and variety of exotica prints in gilded frames adorning the walls, the dedicated lounge area is glamorous without ever feeling overdone.
The bar itself - reflected best in the house cocktail list, is as inspired as it is individual. i had my birthday at george lane last month and it went off without a hitch. great drinks, super-nice staff (maybe the rude barman's left?)and awesome tunes! i hear they're doing renovations soon too!

Very rude barman. He gave me a lecture - manners 101 as I didn't say please when ordering my drink. The decor is comfortable and patrons provide a good atmosphere, but remember your manners.
