We had our daughters birthday party at the George Lane Bar this weekend and I cannot recommend it more highly. The young guy James that ran it was unbelievable. From finding a lower stool for my elderly mum, to organizing one of the staff to heat the food we provided, nothing was too hard. I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews on this page but we couldn't be happier. Great venue, great staff, great party,

DO NOT BOOK A FUNCTION AT THIS BAR! My family had this venue booked for an engagement party with a guest list of 130 people, just to arrive and find the venue closed! The owner was rude and offered no explanation to the couple or something as simple as an apology. Not only did we have to arrange a new venue on the spot but we also had 130 people standing out in the rain. An absolute disgrace and no way to run a business.

We had booked the venue until 1am, however at 11:45 they decided to move people out of the main room into the dingy bar area, closing the large doors separating the rooms and giving guests the impression that the function was to finish up at midnight. To make things worse at 12:15 they turned on the lights - another obvious attempt to shoo people out. We ended up leaving our own engagement party early to head out elsewhere.
Furthermore, the staff had a group of their own friends sitting in the corner drinking cocktails all night (on our tab - who knows?!).
The lack of professionalism of the staff was simply appalling. They cared about nothing but us meeting the minimum spend so they could get out of there ASAP.
DO NOT EVER BOOK FOR A PRIVATE FUNCTION.

i had my birthday at george lane last month and it went off without a hitch. great drinks, super-nice staff (maybe the rude barman's left?)and awesome tunes! i hear they're doing renovations soon too!

Very rude barman. He gave me a lecture - manners 101 as I didn't say please when ordering my drink. The decor is comfortable and patrons provide a good atmosphere, but remember your manners.
