Felix seems to have broken a jinx that stood over this location which saw one establishment after another fail.
Its success is attributable to the integration of a bar and a restaurant, without one restricting the other.
The bar area is in the front section and is notable for the couches of all shapes, sizes and textures. All are upholstered with bright velour material, all are curved, some are ribbed (for your pleasure) and one has to be the longest couch found in any Melbourne bar.
The music sets the tone throughout the night. Earlier on, when the restaurant is in full swing, it's mellower, acid jazz grooves.
Later on, as the bar crowd arrives, it moves towards house when DJs from a local community radio station take over the music selection. The bar does a strong trade in imported beers, cocktails and shooters.
