In a laneway between Flinders Lane and Flinders Street, Degraves sparked a revival in what was an area bereft of quality eating and drinking.
Almost as many seats are set up under huge umbrellas in the lane as there are inside. However, the seats inside are Degraves' drawcard. Aside from the stools by the window, the seating is entirely made up of old theatre seats. Tables are placed between stalls rescued from Yarraville's Sun Theatre during its renovations. While this makes getting past the person next to you an organisational feat, it is a unique experience.
That the staff are rarely still in this undersized bar (boxes of stock are stored between the theatre seats) is testimony to Degraves' enduring popularity, especially with students from the nearby Council of Adult Education. It has the same owners as Syracuse.
