Pillaging unusual items from all over Melbourne, Dantes' owners have fashioned a bar where there seems to be something new each time you visit.
The demolition of the old Albert Park table tennis centre provided a huge TAA sign that dominates the back wall of the function room along with a giant chipboard table tennis player that stares down from the roof.
Tram destination scrolls are used liberally throughout while a glass cabinet proudly displays "Chesty Bond" ads next to 60s Ken dolls. Two merry-go-round horses are stabled in the corner of the function room. Wall-high stained glass panels are suspended in the front windows above stone lions.
At least three jukeboxes are distributed through Dantes. But without a doubt, the highlight is the barrel organ tucked away in the back corner. Although old and battered, you would not be surprised if it suddenly ground out a tune.
The bar offers over 60 wines, 20 beers and an extensive range of cocktails.
