A bar/cafe with a devoted regular clientele, Daguerres offers it all without any pretensions.
The orange and purple walls are covered with fresh monthly exhibitions of photography. Currently a table and chair setup with a smaller, couch-filled room behind the functional bar, the management plans to put in more couches; those would be perfect for a set-up like Daguerres.
Any place that offers 27 wines by the glass with uptempo contemporary jazz in the background deserves languid contemplation. But perhaps its success comes from the staff. All hospitality pros who have seen it all before, their laid-back style means that nothing is too much trouble and no order is too small.
And it is this relaxed air that has the local arty types coming back, whether for a late breakfast and Bloody Mary, a late drink to finish off the night, or indeed at any time in between.
