As befits a bar in the majestic Windsor Hotel, the Cricketers Club Bar hails from a bygone era.
The green and white color scheme, particularly the pinstripe wallpaper, is not something you'd find in the sleek, modern bar designs of the present day. Nor are the ornate light fittings hanging over the oval bar at the centre of the room or the bar staff, dressed in black ties and waistcoats.
The walls, not surprisingly, are decorated with cricket memorabilia ranging from the rare (a bat signed by the 1978?79 Australian team) to the bizarre (a teapot signed by one Shane Warne).
Displayed photos of assorted cricket teams, including recent womens teams and ancient MCC touring sides, date back to the 1890s.
There is a strict neat casual dress code. Warm bar snacks are supplied free of charge during the happy hours (they are available for a cost at other times).
Damien - 02/02/07 I really enjoy watching Australia paste all that stand before them in cricket. I love cricket, more than I love me Mum and Dad. Cant wait for the World Cup of cricket being held in Scotland this year...should be a bonza!!!
With my rollies in hand I enjoy the odd Melbourne Bitter which I truly believe to be the top shelf of all beers.
Bit like the Australian Team. 4/5 mad - 02/08/06 This is a nice looking bar but I have never, ever seen anyone drinking in it. Must go and have look one day.
