Charlies Bar, situated below The Mill Restaurant in Hardware Lane, is most definitely a bar worth tapping. Housed within a converted warehouse of infinite rustic charm, a distinct level of style has been created as evidenced through fashionable clientele, understated décor and a rare level of good old-fashioned service.

A favourite with the after-work crowd, this sub street level bar might be out of sight but it should definitely be kept front of mind. A polished concrete floor is tempered with shag pile rugs and cubicles swathed in velvet curtains are perfectly augmented by rich, dark-timber tables, leather couches and an exposed brick facade.

A selection of lounge music fills the room most days, with live jazz rousing the vibe on Thursday nights from inconspicuous cool to toe-tappin’ fun.

Charlies’ tapas menu will guarantee all appetites are suitably sated and Charlies’ seven-page cocktail selection and impressive wine list ensures there’s a drink for even the most discerning connoisseur.

Unable to see downstairs beause of the lighting and then asked to pay $11 for a pint of Pure Blonde. I was suprised the barman didnt have a shotgun and mask on as thats Robbery.

AWESOME decor/vibe/atmosphere, friendly staff, good music, good crowd, AMAZING cocktails...what more could you want?!
TIP: book a booth/seating, particularly if you are going with a group of more than like 5.

This bar is awesome, we had dinner upstairs at the restaurant for my birthday, then spend the night drinking luscious cocktails in Charlie's. Definitely coming back soon, the fitout is gorgeous and the staff were fab. See you soon Charlie xx

Inside was nice but the terrible bar service lets it down, will NEVER be going back!
Later on in the evening a horrid smell drifted through the venue. (this is not the only underground bar on hardware ln with this issue!)
I think eveyone in the venue left the same time we did.

Cool vibes and "no plastic look at me 18 year olds". Service was a bit grumpy on my night, but loved the little booths. Great for a party.

This place is fantastic!
Free champaigne fri nite for the ladies (6 til 8 i think) and wed nite is cocktail night - $9 cocktails... and the cocktails are to die for!
