With decorations that would suit any monarch, Chaise Lounge couldn't be located in a more appropriately named street.
The huge, elaborately decorated padded chairs, and a bar covered in gilt-edged patterns, present a regally prepared interior.
The room is reasonably spacious and well furnished with a good combination of different sized chairs and lounges. Suspended mosquito nets seal off smaller sections. Juxtaposed against the opulent furnishings is the bare concrete floor and ceiling and exposed air-conditioning vents.
No one would doubt this was a basement, as the skylights reaching to the footpath above attest. The piano accordion hanging from one wall also contrasts with the French ambient house music and smooth grooves that fill the room during the evening.
Management plans to keep the decor fresh by obtaining a second-hand license to buy and sell furniture.

Bartrum McNugent - 18/06/10 I found a pickle in my cocktail, it was devine! 5/5 Lenni - 04/09/09 Love the music Sat.nites! love MJ (hello its 80s!) all the haters need step off cos you either had the wrong dresswear on a sat.nite (dress shoes and shirts req) or you were too drunk! More for the older crowd.. 4/5 Alex - 11/10/08 this bar is great especially if your over 25 years old, good mature crowd easy going. i love the great funky music thats played on sat nights i am one of the regular patrons in the club i always end up having a good time. 4/5 Jenna - 11/07/08
Jeff - 29/08/07 - "I imagine that if you were a single guy you wouldn't have too much trouble finding something to take home".
Jeff, there are far too many lechers out there who deceive defenseless girls, hook them in, root them and toss them out like rubbish.
The more of these men that are off the streets and locked away in prison the better.
I hope next time I go to the chaise lounge there won't be any - It's the mark of a quality venue - NO ROOTERS OR LECHERS.
Cheers,
Jenna.
3/5 Kate - 07/02/08 They have new staff and its a much nicer place to go. Try it out and I dont think you will be disappointed. Its nice for after work drinks - and a boogie on a sat night. You wouldnt recognise the place after work, nice lounge suits etc. Sat night they clear it out for dancing. 4/5 Satine - 04/10/07 Beautiful boys behind the bars, friendly staff, LOVE THIS CLUB!
Go during the week for a quiet romantic drink. 5/5 Jeff - 29/08/07 I was there in June and it wasn't quite as bad as everyone has made it out to be here. Yeah there were some rough characters but my only gripe was that the music was exceptionally bad (they were playing Michael Jackson!). Could have just been that DJ in all fairness. On a positive note I imagine that if you were a single guy you wouldn't have too much trouble finding something to take home. 2/5 Antonia - 31/03/07 Everything about this place is revolting.. the staff, the service, the security boofheads... go there if you want a laugh though, it's really the most bizzare experience, you know sometimes are so bad they're good? 0/5 4shizel - 15/11/06 Almost got bashed by a bunch of lebos for no reason, and Security did nothing.
This place is an absolute hole that everyone should avoid !!!! 0/5 Kate - 14/11/06 Went for a job there and was told they only employee guys behind the bar, only get the girls to do promotion work. They are unprofessional, sexist and rough around the edges, uneducated and naive and would not suggest going there. There are SO many other cool bars in Melbourne check them out first. 0/5 DaTruth - 23/09/06 one simple word...CRAP 0/5
