The first bar in the Block Arcade to really take off, Cafe Segovia, along with its neighbors, provides a touch of Europe in the heart of the city.

The decor exudes a creative spirit: a mural decorates the front wall while a large mural covers the back wall, disguising the kitchen door.

Cafe Segovia makes great use of the laneway and keeps its patrons protected by providing heaters in winter and umbrellas in summer. When, on Thursday and Friday nights, a jazz band plays in the early evening, it almost appropriates the entire lane as another room.

Inside, postcards from around the globe cover every available space along the wall behind the bar. Booths make up the seating along the right hand wall in this relaxed, bustling establishment which is run by the partnership that also owns Medusa, the Hairy Canary and a bar in Norway.

I have just had lunch there with two girlfriends and it was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We were served warm wine,my friend returned her meal and the other two of us coudln't even finish ours. Never ever again.

Went there for the first time on a Thursday night a few weeks ago. There was a group of us from work, we were pleasantly suprised to see a Latin band there. The atmosphere was great, set in a lane-way that reminds of Europe. Food was generous and tasty, service was casually friendly and fast paced. Loved this little place, a treat and would go again.

shocking service, wait staff had no idea and more interested in rushing about and chatting to each other, not one of looked like they knew what they were doing, which was clear when the meals arrived.waiter had order the wrong dishes.as i looked around the rest of the cafe were calling staff over because they too had wrong meals and had waited a long time.theres so many better places in melbourne to dine at DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE

My first experience was with a client just having a coffee. I loved the atmosphere so much that I took my boyfriend for dinner on a Friday night, not realising there would be live music. This added to the sensational atmosphere and the food and wine - superb. Relaxed and European. Loved it so much, going back there today with some work colleagues. Spread the word.
