Revelling in its position in the midst of the theatre district, Cafe K has become a shrine to those who tread the boards: the walls of this neat bar/restaurant are covered in signed photos and playbills.
As you enter, the wall immediately facing you is the "wall of fame" (as designated by the actors who frequent Cafe K) and is covered with signed pictures of theatre's creme de la creme.
A huge surrealist oil painting, entitled "My old green dress", which charts the journey of marriage (or so the artist says) dominates the narrow bar area.
The clientele ebbs and flows with the working day and theatre performances. Meals are served, in the dining area and at the bar, until 11.30pm and there are snacks available until close while a bottle shop operates until 1am. The wine list has more than 80 varieties including more than 20 by the glass.
