A pub with lots of history, the Builders Arms has over the years been the local for some of Melbourne's more notorious residents.
In recent years, however, its owners (who also run the city's Velour) have transformed the Builders Arms into one of Fitzroy's hottest nightspots. Offering a range of entertainment in an unpretentious setting, the Builders Arms' formula has people from far and wide queuing up.
Although it looks like pub on the outside, albeit with its distinctive pokie-free zone sign out the front, the Builders Arms offers an enticing entertainment smorgasbord. From a mirror-surrounded dance floor playing '70s favorites within easy reach of pool tables, it has something for everyone.
Away from the music there is a battery of old lounges and chairs for more intimate gatherings or a beer garden where a large group can spread out.
